Seikichi Toguchi was born on may 20th, 1917 in Naha, Okinawa.

Miyagi, the founder of Goju Ryu, until his death in
He served with the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II as an electrical engineer. After the war, he returned to Okinawa and assisted in rebuilding his war-torn homeland.
In 1969, he was invited to be the Okinawan karate representative at the first world tournament held in Tokyo. He later formed the Shorei-Kan branch of Goju Ryu.
He passed away on Aug. 31, 1998. John Roseberry, Katsuyoshi Kanei, Masanobu Shinjo and Toshio Tamano were among his top students.
